Sugi Ban Whisky/ Display Cabinet

Reclaimed and repurposed Malaysian Meat Cabinet. This awesome piece of history travelled all the way back from Malaysia with us. Originally used for storing foodstuffs from insects these cabinets traditionally had insect mesh in the apertures and were created using whatever wood was available. Our piece was created in a typically rustic manner without a right angle in sight! As the piece had to be substantially overhauled, toughened glass panels have replaced the (perished) mesh on the doors and the piece has been given a charred or ‘Sugi-Ban’ finish with a top coat of Tung oil. The finish is designed to wear and improve with age.

The interior has been fitted with toughened glass shelves and concealed LED lighting to accurately show off the colours of the individual whisky bottles (or whatever you may wish to display). If you want an authentic, aged, rustic, Wabi-Sabi display cabinet with lighting this is the piece for you!
