‘Two Dragonflies Under Glass’ by Michael Dix
‘Two Dragonflies Under Glass’, reverse painted acrylic on glass. Directly painted onto the underside of the glass. Each individual cell on the wings of these Dragonflies has been meticulously painted using the tiniest of brushes. Creating these works requires a sense of discipline which is more akin to ‘Mindfulness’. The complexity of the wing structures creates incredibly realistic shadows onto the backboard.
Size- 190(H) x 190mm (W) (framed). Acrylic paint applied to the underside of glass. Michael Dix is an artist and designer based in Dundee. ‘Scale’ forms the central core of Michael's work. Concentrated, articulate, complex pieces of nature and other overlooked objects are painted over pristine white backgrounds, ordinance survey maps, and glass. Michael has developed meticulous techniques which cause the viewer to question how the work is created, or if what they are looking at is real. Michael has exhibited extensively throughout the UK and his work can is found in collections throughout the world.
